Sayari Camp – Northern Serengeti, Tanzania

Sayari Camp (formerly known as Sayari Mara Camp) is located in the far north of Northern Serengeti, Tanzania. It is a luxury tented camp with 15 tents that is part of a collection of 29 other luxury lodges. It is near the Mara River, where visitors can see the incredible Great Migration of wildebeest from July to October in plain sight. The location of this camp allows for the viewing of the migration without too many other people or vehicles getting in the way. Visitors here will also be in very close proximity to Serengeti National Park. Lions, leopards, and zebras are popular attractions to view here, too. While this camp, and others in its collection, are big on “Big 5” game safaris to view larger popular African animals, it is also a fantastic place for birding and bird photography. In fact, when European species of birds migrate here, at least 500 species or more are present in the area! You can take a driving or walking safari to see some of these exotic-looking birds and do some great bird photography. Some of the major bird attractions of this camp are African Sacred Ibis, Black-lored Babbler, Coqui Francolin, Saddle-billed Stork, Southern Ground Hornbill, and some critically endangered birds such as the Hooded Vulture and White-backed Vulture.
