Sala’s Camp – Kenya

Sala’s Camp is a tented safari camp located in Masai Mara, Kenya in the middle of the national reserve park, right at the meeting point of two rivers – the Sand and Keekorok. It is in a private area in an indigenous forest. It first began accepting visitors in 2004 as a mobile camp and became a permanent camp in 2006. It is operated by The Safari Collection and was named after the two founders’ daughter, Sala, and is a part of a collection of luxury lodges in Kenya. While the camp is made up of seven small tents with a bed and bathroom, don’t be fooled by its simplicity. It is still known for its luxury and fine dining combined with a safari experience. This place is in a prime location for bird watching and viewing popular African game, as well as the great wildebeest migration during the migration months from Tanzania to Kenya. The camp is so close to Tanzania, visitors can even see Serengeti National Park. This camp is the place to be to see the “Big 5” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo), and a large number of elephants can be seen from December to March. While the camp is a big destination for people to see large African mammals, it is also a beautiful and engaging place to go bird watching and get the best wildlife photography. Among the many birds that dwell here are passerines like the African Paradise Flycatcher and African Hoopoe, as well as birds like the Bare-faced Go-Away-Bird and Common Ostrich.
